Third Root believes that education is a crucial part of making our community a healthier place. On weekend afternoons, Third Root dedicates time to Community Health Workshops from a holistic point of view. We encourage you to submit a workshop proposal if you have skills or experiences that you could offer the community — and check out our calendar to learn more about our upcoming workshops!

In addition to our community workshops and forums, we also have a Resource Library, where anyone can come in to read our books.

Also, as healthcare practitioners, we strive to learn more about health-related topics and social/healthcare justice issues and share with the people in the community. As one way to share what we learn, we recommend valuable and interesting readings and websites through the Bibliography and Recommended Links. Please check them out!

Do you have an interest in herbal medicine but don’t know where to begin? Do you want to address health issues using holistic methods? Are you familiar with a few herbs but yearn to know more?

Third Root is proud to host ongoing herbal education programs. These programs run for 12 weeks, and in them you will learn about more than 30 local medicinal plants that grow through the cracks in our own streets, which body systems they help and how that system works, how to make medicine from these local medicinal herbs, and how to identify them in the wild. We ask that you be committed to the entire 12-week session and bring an open heart.

• September 11 - December 18, 2010, Saturdays 12:30-3:30pm

• September 18 - November 20, 2010, three Saturdays a month from 4:00-6:00pm
