Third Root Community Health Center

Massage Therapy

The two types of massage offered at Third Root Community Health Center are Tuina and Shiatsu. They are two branches of massage that come from the fundamental theories of Chinese Medicine. Massage can be provided alone or in combination with Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine to address a large variety of health concerns.

Tuina is generally used to treat injuries and illness with vigorous massage and dynamic movements. Shiatsu is more helpful for psycho-emotional balancing or issues involving fatigue. Shiatsu is finger-pressure or palm pressure applied to meridians and passive stretching to enhance communication throughout the body.

Pediatric massage is also available. Gentle techniques applied to the hands and feet of infants and older children can be taught to parents to help their children with insomnia, digestive issues, to strengthen the immune system and more.
