Participate
Without you, there is no Third Root. Our ethic is based on participation by the members of our community — folks from every walk of life, not just those with access to resources or privilege. Find out how you can get started:
Appointments. Learn more about Third Root’s Open Door Policy, our Sliding Scale, and Community Health Scholarships. Whether it’s for a nutritional consultation, a personal yoga session, individual acupuncture treatment, massage therapy, or some combination of the above, our doors are open to you. We’ll work with you individually to create an effective healthcare treatment, specifically tailored to your needs and desires for your health.
Calendar. Keep in the loop about Third Root’s array of workshops, classes and other special events. We have yoga classes every day of the week, and weekly community health workshops where we invite a member of our community or an allied organization to share their expertise with us. We look forward to seeing you at the next Third Root event!
Volunteer. Keeping in mind the values of community-based action, teamwork, and grassroots involvement, we invite all those interested in participating in Third Root to get involved as a volunteer! Volunteering is a cornerstone of social action, and something we value highly at the center.
Community Health Forums. At Third Root, we believe in being accountable to the communities we serve. That's why we started holding forums in order to hear back from community members about the kind of care they wanted. If you have suggestions or feedback about Third Root, join us at our next Community Health Forum and share your thoughts in a welcoming, communal atmosphere.
Community Board. At Third Root, we are well aware that the neighborhood around Cortelyou Road is changing, and that often in New York, the long-time members of a changing community are disregarded or pushed out. To work against this dynamic, and ensure that we are accountable to the community, we are building a Community Advisory Board made up of residents who have lived in the area at least 10 years, are involved in the community, and have some interest and/or experience with social justice, health, and healthcare. If you're interested in joining, contact Jacoby Ballard at 718.940.9343.
