Meditation for Queer and Trans People of Color is a group meditation on Sunday nights in Brooklyn led by and for queer and trans people of color. Our time together will be spent in 5-10 minute meditations, sharing readings by rotating queer and trans authors of color, and sharing our reflections, struggles, and strategies for both self and community care.
This group is for queer, transgender, intersex and/or genderfluid/non-binary people of color.
This group meditation practice directly follows Queer & Trans Yoga, which all are encouraged to attend from 5:15-6:30pm.
NOTE: Gatherings will only occur when we have a facilitator present. Every two months we’ll announce dates and facilitators. Below is the upcoming schedule:

Hyunhee Shin comes to meditation by way of her martial arts practice. She is a class straddling queer Korean survivor of child sexual abuse and family violence. She has worked in anti-violence social justice orgs for the last 5 years and is obsessed with how we care for ourselves and each other as survivors supporting survivors. Her Hapkido and meditation practice are core to her healing journey and she strives to continue learning and deepening her practice in community.
Nicole Myles came to meditation as a tool for managing chronic pain in 2017. She is a Black, queer femme who values joy, disability justice and our collective liberation. Outside the studio, you can find her redistributing resources through social justice philanthropy, co-hosting Afrofuturist book clubs or deepening her dance practice.
