COVID

Our Policy
With the safety of our community, clients, and staff in mind, we will be requiring proof of vaccination for indoor in-person services, including indoor yoga, bodywork and massage, and community and individual acupuncture. Our facilities will continue to be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day, and our staff will continue to wear masks for both indoors and outdoor services.
Thank you for your support of Third Root as we collectively navigate this pandemic.  It is our hope that with your support we can continue to offer safe and accessible healing services to those in need.
Acceptable proof of vaccination are the NY State Excelsior Pass or vaccination card dated TWO WEEKS after your final shot. The name on your vaccination card must match the name on your photo ID and will be verified by your practitioner onsite.
Masks must be worn at all times for all indoor services. For instances when you may have your face in the face cradle we have found it helpful to wear a disposable medical mask (the blue ones) rather than a reusable cotton mask. We have these on site if you need one.

In light of the new policies around verifying vaccination going forward for indoor services, we are offering the following policy changes for outdoor services:

1. Verification of vaccination

– OR –

2. If not vaccinated, or cannot provide proof – masks required

Please continue to practice social distancing, placing yoga mats at least 6′ apart.

Pronouns Matter

Our Policy

Third Root is an affirming space that welcomes all genders & identities. Naming and honoring pronouns is one way we foster a respectful and welcoming atmosphere.

Being intentional about pronouns is an invitation to honor those who identify as  non-binary, two-spirit, transgender, third gender, gender neutral, gender queer, gender non-conforming, and any combination of these identities.

We invite you to share your pronouns online and in person to communicate how people should refer to you with honor and respect. This practice highlights that we should never presume someone’s pronoun based on how we perceive them. Many people may use she/her, he/him or they/them pronouns while many others find those pronouns do not represent them. We acknowledge that cisgender folks may be new to this practice so we offer a few tips to keep in mind:

  1. Be compassionate with yourself and others. People will make mistakes. Not sure what someone’s pronouns are? The first step to creating a respectful and welcoming atmosphere is to get comfortable asking! Some people use singular ‘they/them’ ‘she/her’ and ‘he/his’ pronouns, while others may change their pronouns up from time to time.  Wherever you are at in your process, we ask that you hold listening and respect at the center.
  2. Mistakes happen. If you misgender someone, simply apologize and take note of their pronouns. Be mindful not to take the other person’s time to process it.
  3. The gender and pronoun binary doesn’t fit many people. We aim to co-create a culture that is comfortable and affirming for all gender-identities. We invite you to use the pronouns which work for you and make you feel most at home in your body and with each other.
  4. Be mindful not to be invasive. Third Root has implemented the practice of asking and sharing pronouns to reduce the burden on each person in the space. At the same time, this is not an invitation to invade someone’s privacy. We hope that you feel empowered to educate yourselves with available resources, while honoring each person’s privacy, personal lives, bodies, names, pronouns and preferences.

Thank you for joining us and for caring for yourselves and each other.

Community Accountability

Our Agreement

This is a Respectful and Anti-Oppressive Space – a work in progress

  • We believe that in order to heal together we must be respected and appreciated for who we are. Please do not use oppressive language. Challenge yourself to be aware of your words.
  • Be aware of how you touch people. Everyone has different histories, comfort levels, and personal space needs. Please make sure all touch is consensual.
  • Racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any prejudice based on ethnicity, class, gender identity, language ability, immigration status, or religious affiliation harms all of us and will be challenged.
  • Be aware of the positions and privileges you bring to the space, including racial, class, sexual orientation, and gender privilege.
  • Avoid assuming the opinions and identities of others. If you don’t know, ask respectfully.
  • Everyone is personally responsible for their own behavior. Model respect for others!
