Marcia Song L.Ac., (she / her) is a second generation acupuncturist. She grew up in Shanghai China in a oriental medicine household. She was exposed to and healed by Chinese herbs and acupuncture whenever she fell ill as a young child, her mother is also a Chinese medicine doctor. Marcia is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Marcia obtained her Master degree in acupuncture from New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest accredited institution for Chinese Medicine in United States. She received training in TCM style acupuncture as well as Japanese style acupuncture. She also has a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University, School of Management where she studied in Business Administration and Management with a concentration in Finance.

Geleni (they/them)  is a fat, queer and trans, disabled, non-binary Latinx person raised and thriving in Brooklyn, New York. They studied acupuncture and East Asian medicine with Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Taoist priest and healer, and they’re also a registered nurse and use knowledge of Western allopathic medicine to support their holistic East-Asian practice. For twenty-five years they’ve worked as a healer, organizer, and facilitator in non-profit and radical collective arenas. Their goal is to empower individuals and nourish healing toward a more just and loving world for us all.

A rural Maryland-born acupuncturist/herbalist with roots in Puerto Rico and the Bronx, Rachel’s (she/her) first experience as a healthcare provider was creating a bug hospital as a toddler (closed due to high patient mortality). She learned about (human) acupuncture from syringe exchange programs and she focuses on treating embodied holding patterns from trauma, pain and stress. Her work is informed by harm reduction and inspired by radical and collective histories and movements, especially around healthcare for marginalized peoples.

Julia Bennett

Julia Bennett

Cofounder/ Acupuncturist

Julia (she / her) is a founding member and co-owner of Third Root, an acupuncturist, and long time Flatbush resident. She began her acupuncture training underground at the Lincoln Detox Center in the Bronx treating individuals facing addiction and AIDS with the Black Panthers and Young Lords in the 1970s and 1980s. She went on to become a Board Certified licensed acupuncturist and herbalist trained in Chinese, Japanese and Native American medicine traditions. Julia’s passion is community health concerns for women, especially those who have tested positive for HIV and AIDS. Julia believes that to address the health challenges of humanity we must acknowledge wellness as a birthright.
