Free, and exclusively for our trans and gender-non-conforming community members. November 15-20 2021

Third Root is celebrating the vanguards of our liberation with a week of free services and offerings for the trans and gender-non-conforming (TGNC) members of our community as part of Trans Awareness Week. Whether you’re able to attend in-person or online, we’re offering a wide range of healing modalities, including meditation, yoga, ear seeds, sound healing, and more. Check out the event descriptions below, where you can register for each event. Thanks for being part of our community!

Chakra-Activating Rainbow Flow + Meditation

  • Join Alejandro as they offer an all-levels guided practice designed to activate our rainbow of chakras and reaffirm our magik. This special space is being held for TGNC practitioners of all levels! Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, free, and connected to yourself. Sweatpants, fishnet stockings, and everything in between is welcome! Create a comfortable and sacred space with pillows, plants, incense, and anything else your spirit craves.

  • Activate your own healing potential with these Self Massage sessions. Under the guidance of one our massage therapists, will use your own hands to manipulate your own muscles. This will involve kneading the skin and applying pressure in particular areas. Appointments available for either in-person or virtual telehealth from the comfort of your own space.

Tapping for Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma

  • Join Geleni for a lunchtime gathering to learn and practice a simple tapping / acupressure routine that can help us heal and nourish as we move through our trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming lives. We deserve that care. Let’s give and receive it together. Tapping is the use of acupressure, psychological grounding, and mindfulness to create a holistic healing experience which centers on the empowerment of the individual. The practice includes finger tapping on specific acupressure points along the energetic meridians of the body along with the creation and expression of messages of self-love and acceptance.

Thai Bodywork Sessions

  • Incorporating the iconic Thai style stretches, pressure point work, and compression we’ll move from the feet to the head to increase blood circulation, decrease inflammation, facilitate myo-facial release and work to provide mental-physical relaxation. These sequences can be adjusted according to mobility and areas of high tension. We may utilize a herbal balm for, especially tight knots. Unlike other forms of massage, Thai massage is typically practiced on a floor mat instead of a table and generally with loose clothing on.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Clinic

  • The biodynamic craniosacral therapy (BCST) community clinic format is inspired by healing justice clinics and affordable healthcare initiatives. These mini sessions can be an intro to BCST work and the effects that negotiated compassionate touch can have on the nervous system. The sessions take place fully clothed on a bodywork table and will involve the practitioner making contact at your feet, shoulders, head or spine. These sessions hold space for listening to the stories, sensations, and emotions of the body.

Metta Meditation

  • Come explore your creativity and personal connection(s) to spirit in this Collective Art + Altar Building Workshop. Altars are a focus of energy, intention, and love, and can be created in a variety of shapes and sizes–simple to ornate. Whether permanent or temporary, discreet or conspicuous, you can create an altar in just a few moments.

Earthing the Ear: NADA Ear Seeds and Sound Healing

  • Traditional Chinese acupuncture techniques view the ear as a reflection of the entire body’s nervous system. These acupuncture sessions are meant to engage the ear as an entry point to relieving pain and stress using auricular needling by practitioners in training. The NADA ear protocol has been clinically proven to aid recovery from addiction and trauma, being utilized by groups like the Black Panthers and Young Lords to treat stress in-community. These sessions will be free as trained practitioners will be supervised for the treatments needed to acquire certification.

In addition to our Trans Week of Wholeness events, we invite you to attend our weekly yoga classes taught by TGNC practitioners at Third Root. With the exception of ‘Queer and Trans Yoga’, these classes are open to folx of all identities:
